Hometown Partnerships

Kohl’s partners with Acts Housing to help increase the number of Black and Brown individuals and families who receive pre-approval for home loans and who purchase homes for owner-occupancy in Milwaukee. Funding helps underwrite the continued work of building and executing robust programming, specifically for families who face the most barriers to homeownership, as well as develop workshop series and financial incentives to assist local Milwaukee families. 

Kohl’s partners with American Cancer Society to create the Kohl’s Healthy Families program which supports families through the prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.  The program serves the following counties in southeast Wisconsin: Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha.

Kohl’s partners with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee to provide access to leadership and character programs within the Clubs, including mentoring, community involvement, social-emotional well-being, and college and career planning. Through this partnership, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee works to increase civic engagement and advocacy, offer leadership development through the Youth of the Year Program and implement social justice community initiatives.

Kohl's partners with Children's Wisconsin to enhance mental health services for kids and their families. Kohl's funding supports the expansion of mental health walk-in services to ensure that no child or family suffers alone.

Kohl’s partners with COA Youth & Family Centers to help ensure Milwaukee’s youth have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed and thrive in today’s workforce. Support expands to after-school and summer programs at learning centers and during school off-days, as well as a vital Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum through the Kohl’s Explore Your Future program.

Kohl’s partners with Discovery World to maintain and continuously enhance the on-site experience of Kohl's Design It! Lab (KDIL) within the museum. Kohl's Design It! Lab continues to be a premier destination for Discovery World visitors by providing an ever-changing opportunity for all ages to engage in hands-on, project-based activities that they can take home with them. 

Kohl’s partners with Employ Milwaukee to further advance and scale its DEI efforts by enhancing Basic IT skills training, device distribution, connection to free and reduced quality internet, and expansion of a virtual service delivery platform. This partnership allows Milwaukee County participants to increase employment opportunities, promote economic advancement as well as connect underserved populations to the proper technology, knowledge and resources.

Kohl’s partners with Greater Milwaukee Urban League to support education, employment and advocacy. Kohl’s funding benefits the organization’s mission to achieve economic vibrancy and equal access to all industries and disciplines that position Black communities to create wealth and live a better quality of life.

Kohl’s partners with Hunger Task Force to support families and children facing hunger. Together, our partnership supports Hunger Task Force’s MyPlate food bank operation, distribution staff, infrastructure and food purchases to ensure a steady supply of healthy and culturally appropriate food for the organization’s network of 70 food pantries. Additionally, Kohl’s funding provides nutritious meals for low-income, Milwaukee children during the summer.

Kohl’s partners with the Milwaukee Art Museum to offer free admission for children 12 and under, and raise awareness of this benefit within traditionally underserved Milwaukee communities. The partnership also supports Kohl’s Art Studio, where the Milwaukee Art Museum will continue to offer drop-in art making for families, as well as expand Kohl’s Art Studio online for broader reach, and extend Kohl’s Art Studio into the community by providing art making at Milwaukee festivals and events.

Kohl’s partners with the Milwaukee Public Museum to provide Kohl’s Thank You Thursday’s. On the first Thursday of every month, Kohl’s funding supports free admission to the permanent exhibits for all visitors at the Museum.

Kohl's partners with NAMI Southeast Wisconsin to bring evidence-based education programs, support groups and classes to communities of color in Milwaukee County. Through a network of community partnerships, NAMI will address the stigma and reluctance to discuss mental health by recruiting and training NAMI facilitators who represent the community, as well as tailor culturally relevant materials.

Kohl’s partners with Penfield Children’s Center to support the Kohl's Building Blocks (KBB) program, which has consistently refined and refocused its efforts to provide the greatest impact and meet critical needs of children and families at Penfield. Through this partnership, Penfield will continue to address early childhood needs in the Milwaukee community by supporting Child Development Specialists, a KBB Lending Library and KBB Early Learning Toolkits. Alternatively, Penfield will work to implement new measures to engage staff, parents and caregivers through new technology advancements.

Kohl’s partners with Ronald McDonald House Charities Eastern Wisconsin to provide a spectrum of supportive programs for families with children seeking medical care at an area hospital. Programs include creative arts therapies and hospitality bag items for families calling the Ronald McDonald House “home,” as well as the Happy Wheels Hospitality Cart, serving families at Children's Wisconsin. 

Kohl’s partners with Safe & Sound to continue its mission to provide safe neighborhoods for all residents in Milwaukee. Safe & Sound works to create neighborhood coalitions to survey local communities, develop and implement neighborhood action plans focused on safety and community resources, assess the impact of the collective impact strategy in current neighborhoods, and evaluate how progress in these neighborhoods has prepared for expansion into additional diverse neighborhoods. 

Kohl’s partners with Zoological Society of Milwaukee to offer Kohl's Wild Theater as a way to provide fun, educational, conservation-themed theater performances using drama, songs and puppetry to engage children and their families. This partnership aims to expand  Kohl's Wild Theater’s conservation-themed educational shows into schools within 60 miles of the Milwaukee County Zoo, as well as fund on-stage performances at the zoo from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day on the Kohl’s Wild Theater Stage. Visitors will also be able to check out interactive activities near animal habitats, such as magic tricks and games, that also teach conservation lessons.
