Summer means spending lots of time on the patio enjoying the weather, grilling out and spending time with friends and family. You can bring a lot of personality to your patio to create a picture perfect space to unwind. The talented team of stylists at Kohl’s share some tips to help create a warm and welcoming outdoor space.

1. Function
First, think about what you want the space to do for you.  Is this going to be an area where you can get away from the world for a while? Are you going entertain in this space? Maybe you’re looking for a functional everyday space for you and your family. Decide what will work best for you and your family to start.

2. Color, color, color
Take a look at your surroundings, pick a color and go from there. If you have a white house with red doors and red shutters, incorporate the red color into your furniture and then chose two different accent colors to tie the look together. Add rugs, pillows, lighting, garden stools, plants and flowers for color. Don’t be afraid of color; color adds life and character to a space.

3. Accessorize with Pillows
Pillows are a great way to add color, pattern, texture and comfort to your space, and they are an inexpensive way to refresh it from season to season. Simply replacing last year’s pillows with new ones can transform your patio without breaking the bank.

4. Make It Cozy
Looking for that place to get away from the world for a while? Hop into an oversized chair or sectional and relax. Grab a book, add comfy pillows, a rug, lanterns and string lights and relax into another world.

5. Small Spaces
