Kohl’s Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

With Hispanic Heritage Month right around the corner, Kohl’s is proud to celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures and extensive histories of Hispanic and Latino communities. From a wide-ranging product assortment to our community sponsorships and events for Kohl’s associates, we’re working to bring our customers stories and resources that provide unique ways to celebrate Hispanic and Latino culture and traditions. Here’s what to expect in the weeks and months ahead:

Kohl’s Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight Collection
Aspiring to offer goods that bring us together, Kohl’s Hispanic Heritage Month collection was brought to life by Kohl’s Diversity Design Council (DDC), a group of associates that work together to develop, design and curate culturally relevant products that reflect diversity. Every item in the assortment was selected or designed to pay homage to the rich heritage and legacy of Hispanic and Latino culture.

“The inspiration behind our Hispanic Heritage Month collection is “Herencia.” It’s a word with two meanings - ‘Heritage’ and ‘Inheritance/Legacy’,” said Gabriela Riveros, art manager at Kohl’s and member of the Diversity Design Council. “We wanted the art to speak to the Hispanic community in a celebratory way and also connect us all to our roots and family traditions. Our artwork is a culmination of tradition and nostalgia, combining themes like language, family and migration, music, and land inspired by different art styles and pop culture that spoke to our everyday lives. We drew inspiration from regions all over Latin America and the United States, so we hope to create that magical moment where customers can see themselves in our collection.”

Investing in Hispanic and Latino Communities
This Hispanic Heritage Month, Kohl's is proud to support the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) through an investment of $100,000 for support services to enable and empower students, parents, scholars, and alumni to set a course for academic and career success. HSF Support Services include programs such as College 101, College Prep Saturday and Road to College that provide thousands of K-12 parents and students the opportunity to better prepare, plan and pay for college.

Our $100,000 donation to the HSF supports Kohl’s broader commitment to donate $20 million in support of diverse communities by 2025.

Celebrating Together
In the coming weeks, our Hispanic y Latino Business Resource Group (BRG) will host interactive events for our associates. The group will kick off the month with a guest speaker and September Cafecito to connect with fellow members and recognize the contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community. The BRG will also participate in other experiences such as cultural podcasts, recipe sharing, panel discussions and community volunteer events. In the meantime, tune in to Life at Kohl’s Instagram for more throughout Hispanic Heritage Month and all year long.
