Kohl’s Earns Second Consecutive Dow Jones Sustainability Honor

Kohl’s included on Dow Jones Sustainability Index retail North America Family listing

Kohl’s has been named for the second consecutive year to the 2019 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) retail North America Family listing, acknowledging the company’s accelerated commitment to sustainability efforts.

“We are very proud to once again be recognized among a strong peer-set of sustainably-minded companies as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index retail North America Family listing,” said Steve Thomas, Kohl’s chief risk and compliance officer. “We recently set intentional 2025 sustainability goals in areas with identified opportunity to make the largest impact, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This acknowledgement, coupled with our new goals, demonstrates our continued commitment to seeking sustainable and environmental efforts that make our communities stronger for the long-term.”

The Dow Jones indices track the corporate and social responsibility performance of more than 3,500 publicly traded companies. DJSI takes a best-in-class approach to analyzing companies, setting a high bar of analysis based on financially material Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. These factors help socially conscious investors understand a company’s impact on people, communities and the planet. Our inclusion is one of several third-party recognitions providing a reliable indicator of Kohl’s sustainability performance by a credible and independent source.

Kohl’s is committed to seeking sustainable solutions for a healthy future, and we recently announced the company’s new sustainability goals focused on achieving quantitative targets by 2025 in the areas of climate action, waste and recycling, and sustainable sourcing. Kohl’s sustainable strategy is guided by leveraging business practices and decisions that enhance the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
