Reimagining the Digital Shopping Experience with Snapchat

Kohl’s connects with customers where they are with a new augmented reality experience on Snapchat.

Click, click, click...and check out! As many consumers continue to shop from home, Kohl’s is continuing to lean into the convenience of our digital channels, like Kohls.com and the Kohl’s App. In addition, we’re also innovating new ways to engage consumers on other platforms that resonate with millennial and Generation Z (Gen Z) customers  — including the use of augmented reality to bring the shopping experience to life in partnership with Snapchat.

Kohl’s recently collaborated with Snapchat to create Kohl’s Augmented Reality (AR) Virtual Closet, giving users the opportunity to shop their favorite styles from a curated assortment of Kohl’s products. When a user finds a look they love, they can make a purchase without ever leaving the Snapchat app.

Launched earlier this year, Kohl’s Snapchat Virtual Closet has showcased our top spring styles and later featured active and athleisure items as shoppers searched for comfy, work-from-home gear during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the newest iteration, users can find style inspiration this back-to-school season by mixing and matching an assortment of Levi’s products to create trendy outfits. Customers using the new Selfie Lens feature on Snapchat can also virtually try-on the Levi’s Trucker Jacket, allowing them to picture themselves in the jacket by using the camera on their phone.

Snapchat has helped Kohl’s deepen relationships with millennial and Gen Z customers, as the platform reaches more than 75 percent of 13- to 34-year-olds. Their active daily users also interact with AR nearly 30 times a day, making Kohl’s Virtual Closet a relevant and engaging way for the Snapchat community to experience all that Kohl’s has to offer.

Check out the Snapchat Virtual Closet experience in the video below, then try it for yourself through Kohl’s Snapcode!
