Kohl’s is committed to delivering amazing product to our customers. Dedicated to researching the latest trends in fashion, culture and technology, Kohl’s trend team helps provide relevant and fashionable product each season.

Simone Segall, Kohl’s senior trend manager, recently helped the consumer brands PR team showcase this season’s top trends to fashion editors, bloggers and influencers at Kohl’s Summer Preview Event at Kohl’s New York Design Office. The event featured curated top products for a variety of summer activities and events, including everything from a pool party with friends to summer weddings or outdoor workouts. Check out some of this summer’s biggest trends and editors’ favorite Kohl’s products from the event below.

Emotion

“Emotion” is an overarching trend this season, with fun product that aims to inspire and create a connection with customers. At the preview event, apparel, accessories and decor donned bold colors and creative embellishments to play up this trend. Favorite pieces included tropical pool float coasters, novelty bottle covers, graphic one-piece swimsuits, and fun slides from Circus by Sam Edelman, one of Kohl’s newest footwear brands.

“There was so much emotional color and novelty in the room. We loved the playful expressions on all of the swimwear in light and bright colors and fun conversational floats.” - Simone Segall, Kohl’s senior trend manager

Summer Blues

Although a popular color year-round, blue stands out as a trend this season and was on display in a variety of styles at the event. This blue gingham LC Lauren Conrad dress was big hit, as well as chambray or denim-inspired shirts.

“There were so many great silhouettes in a breadth of denim-like fabrications. We also love layering on an additional piece, like the perfect season-less denim jacket to take you from day to night.” - Simone Segall, Kohl’s senior trend manager.

Easy Outfitting

Families will spend less time choosing their outfits and more time enjoying the summer with the growing trend of “easy outfitting.” One-piece or matched ensembles that work for multiple occasions are the way to go. Pieces such as this maxi romper, also featured at the event, can be dressed up or down for easy wear day or night.

“What's easier than a head-to-toe look with the perfect summer dress, matched set, or jumpsuit?” - Simone Segall, Kohl’s senior trend manager
