The beloved book is included in the new Kohl’s Cares collection.
Challenged with a list of vocabulary words for six and seven-year-olds, Theodor Seuss Geisel, or more popularly known as Dr. Seuss, set out to create a children’s book that kids wouldn’t want to put down. He succeeded when the book The Cat in the Hat was published in 1957 and its pages were filled using just 236 different words that young readers could understand. This celebrated children’s book is part of the new Kohl’s Cares collection and available for $5 now through early April at Kohl’s stores and on Kohls.com.
The Cat in the Hat took Dr. Seuss a year and a half to
write and was his 13th book for children. The whimsical
story about the larger than life cat was an instant
success! Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated 45 books for
children, and they have sold hundreds of millions of copies worldwide. While a popular children’s author, Dr. Seuss didn’t write for young readers, but instead he wrote for an ageless audience. When asked, he said, “I don’t write for children. I write for people."
