Kohl’s Supports Local Communities This Giving Tuesday and Year-Round

11/29/2022

Whether it’s a national day of recognition or the holiday season, Kohl’s is committed to giving back to our communities throughout the year.

Kohl's Celebrates Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to helping others, giving back and highlighting the impactful work nonprofit organizations nationwide do on a daily basis.

In honor of Giving Tuesday this year, Kohl’s will surprise 2,000 associates with the opportunity to direct donations to a nonprofit of their choosing; up to $50,000 will be donated.

Additionally, others can join Kohl's in supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of America, one of Kohl’s biggest philanthropic partners. Now through Dec. 31, 2022, Kohl's will match your donation – and, on Giving Tuesday, donations will be tripled, up to $1 million. To make a donation or volunteer at your local club, visit bgca.org

Kohl's Donates $5 Million Nationwide This Holiday Season
This holiday season, Kohl’s will donate $5 million to nonprofits nominated by associates nationwide through our A Community with Heart program. Kohl's associates are nominating nonprofits in their local area now and Kohl's will award grants to hundreds of nonprofits later this season. The program is another way for Kohl’s and our associates to support the communities we serve.

Kohl's Supports Communities All Year Round
Here are some of the other ways Kohl’s gives back:

  • Kohl’s Cares® Merchandise: Kohl’s donates 100 percent of the net profit of Kohl's Cares merchandise to support happier and healthier communities. Since 2000, the Kohl’s Cares merchandise program has raised more than $400 million to fund community initiatives that support the health of families nationwide.
  • National Partnerships: Kohl’s is proud to partner with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and National Alliance on Mental Illness to develop and implement critical programming aimed at improving the physical and emotional well-being of families. This summer, Kohl’s announced a donation of $10 million, over three years, in support of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s development and delivery of trauma-informed training to Club staff.
  • A Community with Heart: This will mark the fifth year of Kohl's A Community with Heart program. Kohl’s Cares has donated more than $19 million to hundreds of local nonprofits nominated by associates nationwide through this program during the holiday season.
  • Kohl's Volunteer Program: Kohl’s associates support their communities year-round by volunteering their time with local nonprofits. In recognition of their efforts, Kohl’s donates grants to the nonprofit for every approved volunteer hour.
  • Kohl's Hometown Giving Program: Kohl's Hometown Giving Program grants provide nonprofits with the opportunity to tell Kohl’s how the company can support what they need most. During the application window, nonprofits can apply for grants ranging from $5,000-$25,000; Kohl’s will distribute more than $500,000 in early January.
  • Hometown Partnerships: Kohl’s is strongly committed to making a difference in our hometown of Milwaukee, Wis., where Kohl’s launched 60 years ago. Throughout company history, the company has given more than $144 million to Milwaukee nonprofits. To learn more about our Hometown Partners, click here.
  • In-Kind Donations: Through in-kind donations, Kohl’s simultaneously reduces waste and supports family and wellness nonprofits in the community. Over the past year, Kohl’s has donated a surplus of goods, including masks and cleaning supplies, Kohl’s Cares merchandise and various brand and beauty merchandise to nonprofits in our communities.
