Kohl's Associates Surpass April Volunteer Goal to Raise $6 Million for Nonprofits
Through Kohl’s volunteer program, more than 2,400 benefiting nonprofit organizations received grants to support their life-changing missions.
Giving back to improve the health and wellness of families in the communities we’re proud to be a part of is at the core of who we are as a company. Through our incredibly strong volunteer program, associates donate their personal time and talents to make a difference in their local communities all year long. But this April, Kohl’s sweetened the deal by doubling the typical $500 grant Kohl’s contributes to each nonprofit in recognition of associate volunteer efforts to $1,000 and CEO Michelle Gass challenged the company to volunteer at least 65,000 hours.
Throughout the month, associates across the country came together to plant gardens, host children’s fitness events, distribute food and so much more – and we crushed our goal. Kohl’s associates volunteered more than 114,000 hours and, as a result of their month-long volunteer efforts, we donated more than $6 million to over 2,400 nonprofit organizations across the country that benefited from a volunteer event.
Check out just a few of the fantastic results from our associates’ efforts in April.
Milwaukee, Wis. – More than 11,800 hours through 606 volunteer events
Chicago, Ill. – More than 9,100 hours through 599 volunteer events
Los Angeles, Calif. – More than 4,800 hours through 421 volunteer events
Detroit, Mich. – More than 2,900 hours through 207 volunteer events
Philadelphia, Pa. – More than 2,800 hours through 189 volunteer events
Each year, Kohl’s associates support more than 4,000 benefitting nonprofit organizations through the Kohl’s Volunteer Program, and we donate millions of dollars across the country to recognize the service of our associates. For more information about Kohl’s Volunteer Program, click here.
