Kohl’s Receives Energy Star Partner Of The Year Award For Sustained Excellence

Kohl’s is proud to build on the company’s reputation of environmental leadership by receiving the 2022 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy. This marks the 11th consecutive year Kohl’s has been recognized with the program’s highest honor.

The EPA’S ENERGY STAR program honors organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy achievements each year with ENERGY STAR Awards. Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners who lead their industries in the production and sale of energy-efficient products and services, and in the development and adoption of strategies that provide substantial savings in the buildings where we work, and in our homes. All of these efforts contribute to reduced emissions and create a healthy environment.

“At Kohl’s, we are committed to doing our part for people and for the planet,” said Steve Thomas, chief risk and compliance officer at Kohl’s. “We strive to continually implement the best practices in energy efficiency across our stores and facilities to reduce our carbon footprint and fight climate change. We’re proud to receive this recognition as we continue to demonstrate the work that our teams do to ensure we leave a smaller footprint on our planet today, for a better, more sustainable future for our communities.”

Kohl's believes that incorporating sustainable solutions in the way we do business will help build better futures for families. The company’s climate action goals are focused on the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increase of renewable energy use, which will help push our Net Zero 2050 commitment forward. In November 2021, Kohl’s became one of the first companies to join the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Climate Challenge, strengthening our commitment to reduce our GHG emissions.

As of 2021, 91 percent of Kohl’s stores are ENERGY STAR® certified, including nine stores newly certified in the calendar year. Kohl’s recently announced plans to expand the number of stores that incorporate solar energy.
