Kohl’s Shares its Recipe for Spreading Holiday Cheer to Children and Families Across the Country
Key ingredients include more than 750 holiday gifts, nearly 1,000 deserving families and lots of joy to share.
This holiday season, Kohl’s associates were busy cooking up the perfect plan for spreading cheer to children and families in their communities across the country. Sprinkled with gifts and seasoned with spirit, Kohl’s is excited to share its six-step holiday recipe.
Step #1: Support more than 300 deserving nonprofit organizations through a National Giving Program
To kick off the season of giving, Kohl’s awarded $3.2 million in grants to more than 300 nonprofit organizations across the country as part of Kohl’s National Giving Program, which is an extension of our ongoing commitment to health and wellness. The donations made through Kohl’s National Giving Program are possible through our philanthropic program, Kohl’s Cares®, which sells children’s books and toys and donates 100 percent of the net profit to charitable initiatives nationwide.
Step #2: Gift toys to the deserving children and families in our hometown
Associates at Kohl’s corporate headquarters and credit center in Milwaukee donated more than 750 presents to nearly 1,000 deserving children and families that are served by our hometown partner Penfield Children’s Center. Watch the video below to follow the holiday gifts as they made the trip from Kohl’s corporate headquarters to Penfield Children’s Center.
Step #3: Sell gifts that give back to improve the health and wellness of families nationwide
Available at an incredible value of just $5 each, with 100 percent of Kohl’s net profit benefiting organizations across the country that work to improve the health and wellness of children and families, customers are encouraged to shop the Kohl’s Cares holiday collection. Complete with Disney-themed books and coordinating plush toys, the holiday collection features iconic characters from the Mickey Mouse Club – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.
Step #4: Donate food and even more toys to families across the country
Associates at Kohl’s corporate and credit locations, including Milwaukee, New York, Dallas, San Antonio, and Milpitas, donated nearly $250,000 to more than 80 nonprofit organizations that were selected through a company-wide vote. Associates also gifted more than 3,000 toys and 6,300 pounds of nonperishable foods to more than 30 nonprofits that serve children and families in their communities.
Step #5: Give countless hours of personal time, energy and talent
Through Kohl’s Volunteer Program associates have donated more than 285,000 hours of their time to spread joy throughout their communities this holiday season, from running a holiday boutique at Ronald McDonald House Charities to creating holiday wreaths for a local YMCA. Kohl’s donated more than $9.9 million to nonprofit organizations in recognition of associate volunteer efforts.
Step #6: Continue supporting the TODAY Toy Drive
For the 14th consecutive year, Kohl’s proudly gifted nearly $50,000 in books and plush to the TODAY Toy Drive, increasing the company’s total in-kind donation over the years to more than $25 million.
