To help kids feel good about themselves as they head back to school, on Wednesday, August 17, Kohl’s brought K-12th grade students and teachers from The Accelerated Schools in Los Angeles together for what they thought was a routine first week of school assembly.
Little did they know - Vanessa Hudgens and Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteers were waiting to surprise students with nearly 2,000 pairs of new Nike shoes, enough to give the entire student body a new pair of sneakers for the year ahead!
And because we learned from AdoptAClassroom.org that more than 90% of teachers spend an average of $600 of their own money on classroom essentials throughout the year, we gave all 83 teachers a $600 AdoptAClassroom.org gift card to fund everything they need to make it a successful year for their students.
