Kohl’s Named One of Seramount's 2022 Top Companies for Executive Women

06/07/2022

Kohl’s is proud to be recognized as one of Seramount’s 2022 Top Companies for Executive Women for the fourth time, earning the acknowledgement as a top workplace for women who want to progress to the most senior levels. The Top Companies for Executive Women survey celebrates companies that champion women’s advancement, with a focus on succession planning, profit-and-loss roles, gender pay parity, support programs, and flexibility programs.

“We are excited to be recognized as a top company for executive women by Seramount,” said Michelle A. Banks, Kohl’s chief diversity & inclusion officer. “As Kohl’s continues to empower women across the business, we hold ourselves accountable for inspiring empathy and creating an environment of belonging. While this has always been part of our culture, our evolved strategy accelerates how we are embedding D&I throughout our business by being intentional about our programs and practices and holding ourselves accountable with measurable goals and results.”

Kohl’s Women in Leadership
At Kohl’s, we value female representation and are committed to fostering a culture that supports the advancement of women. In 2020, we made a Pledge for Progress, which outlines how we’ll take action to deliver meaningful change for the good of Our People, Our Customers and Our Community. We pledge to take action to increase diversity across our associate population to better reflect our customers and our country, increase representation of women across our leadership ranks as well as maintain strong inclusion and address opportunities to strengthen belonging among women and BIPOC associate groups who experience lower engagement.

As we continue to uplift women throughout the business, Kohl’s continues to move more women into top positions, including:

  • Our Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Gass, and Chief Financial Officer, Jill Timm, are the rare 1% example of a female CEO-CFO pairing at a Fortune 500 company;
  • Of Kohl’s management population, approximately 62% identify as female;
  • Established several partnerships with organizations that offer both professional and leadership development programs focused on, but not limited to, our women associates. These experiences are thoughtfully selected to provide opportunities to expand networks, be recognized by the company and offer unique perspectives to their growth and development;
  • Partnered with Alverno College, a women's college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to launch the Kohl’s Scholars program and connect recipients with Kohl’s women in leadership to learn what it’s like to work at a national retailer.
