With two little boys and a baby girl on the way, Kohl’s Active & Wellness ambassador and wellness expert Sophie Jaffe certainly knows the importance of a flexible workout routine (and attire)! Check out Sophie’s tips for exercising at your own pace in the comfort of your own home with the help of Kohl’s.

Dress to move.

Getting into workout mode requires both mental and physical preparation. Sophie suggests limiting prep time by being dressed and ready to move throughout the day. “As someone who primarily works from home, I tend to sneak fitness in wherever I can, and since I’m already dressed in an outfit I can easily move in (like these cozy leggings and supportive sports bra from FILA SPORT), I have no excuses.”

Even when you’re running errands in and out of the house, Sophie still recommends being ready to move. “I already have two super-active boys (5 and 7), so having comfy and cute shoes like these dusted pink (for my girl!) New Balances to transition from school drop-offs to an at-home high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout are key.”

Invest in home fitness equipment.

It can be hard to find time to hit the gym, so Sophie suggests owning a few of your own fitness tools to make a good workout possible anywhere, any time. “Snag some light weights from Kohl’s (they’re super affordable) so you can sneak in some bicep curls or an overhead press while you’re taking a 10-minute work break or watching your favorite reality show. Plus, there’s no shame in a desk workout—just saying!”

Find a workout routine that fits your lifestyle (and living room!).

You don’t need expensive machines or a personal trainer to have a good workout. “You can find so many workouts for free online, so ditch that gym membership and get your sweat on in the comfort of your own home.”

One of Sophie’s favorite arm-strengthening exercises is easy to do right in your living room. “I’ll grab a 10-pound kettle, put my arms straight in the air directly by my ears (be careful of holding any tension in your neck, though—try to relax!), and bend backward at the elbow. You’ll feel it right away and will be tank-top ready in no time.”
