Kohl’s Invites Nonprofits to Help Associates Spring into Service This April

It’s time to get back to giving back

Spring is officially here, offering warmer temperatures, more sunlight and a renewed desire to get out and connect with your community––making it the perfect time for Kohl’s to relaunch its beloved volunteer program. This April, Kohl’s is here to support nonprofits as they give back to communities across the nation, offering double rewards dollars for volunteer hours served by Kohl’s associates throughout the month with Kohl’s Spring into Service Volunteer Initiative.

Between April 1-30, all qualifying volunteer events will be eligible for a $50 reward for every volunteer hour tracked and approved by Kohl’s associates. Whether your organization needs one volunteer, a small group, or an entire team, April is a great time to connect with Kohl’s volunteers.

Kohl’s Teams Up with Hunger Task Force for First-Ever “Combo Build”

To kick-off Kohl’s Spring into Service Volunteer Initiative, on April 1, more than 50 Kohl’s volunteers will team up with Hunger Task Force to execute the first-ever Stockbox/Food Sort “Combo Build'' at the food bank’s new Volunteer Action Center located in Kohl’s hometown of Milwaukee. This event will feature Kohl’s volunteers simultaneously building 500 Stockboxes and sorting over 20,000 pounds of food.

Hunger Task Force’s Volunteer Action Center within its new West Milwaukee headquarters includes a food sort conveyor belt and a Stockbox assembly line, allowing the organization to engage multiple volunteer group activities at once. Volunteers from Kohl’s Design & Brand Management Department will be the first group to execute a “Combo Build” in this new space.

"Our associates love to give back with their resources, talent, and time," said Tara Geiter, Kohl's Director of Community Relations. "We're proud of what Kohl's and Hunger Task Force have been able to accomplish in the past and look forward to serving our community through this first-ever combo-event."

Hunger Task Force annually distributes 12 million pounds of food to local pantries, meal programs and senior centers free of charge, which includes 2 million pounds of donated food and over 115,000 Stockboxes.

Nonprofits Can Request Kohl’s Volunteers

Throughout the month of April, Kohl’s associates will volunteer at hundreds of events across the country, giving back to the nonprofits and organizations that mean the most to them.

Kohl’s volunteers will be on the lookout for events in their areas, so if your organization is in need of helping hands, you are encouraged to create volunteer events in the Benevity system and reach out to your local Kohl’s store(s) to spread the word. To create events for Kohl’s Volunteers, please refer to our creating volunteer opportunities instruction guide.
